The internet is a beautiful and crazy thing – so often I think of this meme:
The spirit of the above is how I got the wonderful opportunity to score this gig and meet the lovely Katie & Matt. Several months back, I saw a post on one of the photog groups of which I’m a part, from the wonderful Alex Bolen of ShutterDarling Photography – she was looking for an extra set of hands at Katie & Matt’s wedding, because she was going to be shooting at 36 weeks pregnant (!!!). I got to tag along with her, carry some stuff, encourage her to hydrate and shoot the day for fun. It was great!
Katie and Matt were too cute. Their day was full of joy and laughter and love – you can tell they share a special and unique connection, and that they just get each other. It was easy to see how excited their friends and family were for them to make it official and spend the day celebrating their love. Their ceremony at the Old Stone Chapel was so touching – Matt’s face when he first saw Katie had me all choked up! We had a blast wandering around Historic Downtown St. Charles (a newish part of the world for this gal!) and their reception was a ton of fun.
Amazing dessert bar? Check.
Cinco de Mayo themed drinks? Check.
Guests who were totally pumped to dance (including Alex at 36 weeks pregnant, you’ll see her later on in the blue)? Check.
AND. The bride “icing” the groom during the garter toss? Check. Check. Check.
It was hilarious, and, funny story, Katie’s MOM ended up catching the garter on the first toss.
It was truly a lovely evening, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to participate – Alex, Katie and Matt, thank you so much for including me. And Alex – hurry up and have that adorable baby!!!
